My role at ThisWorks
Hello, I’m Asuka Obster, an HR Consultant at ThisWorks.
In my role, I support international employees and clients throughout different stages of the employment journey. I focus on keeping communication clear, coordinating practical steps and helping employees understand what to expect during their onboarding and employment.
Before joining ThisWorks, I completed an MBA in International Tourism Management at IGC, Hochschule Bremen, in Germany. I began my career in the travel industry as a Travel Coordinator, where I developed experience in logistics, customer service and cross-cultural communication. These skills continue to shape the way I work with employees and clients from around the world.
Having built my own life and career abroad, I understand that even everyday procedures and documents can feel unfamiliar in a new country. This perspective influences how I support employees: with patience, transparency and attention to the questions that matter to them.

Originally from Japan, I now live in Nijmegen. I have always enjoyed discovering new cultures and connecting with people from different backgrounds, both through travelling and through my work.
Outside of work, I am learning Dutch and play the flute in an orchestra in Nijmegen Hatert. I am also a big dog lover and enjoy spending time outdoors with my dog.
